Tama Silverstar Review
Tama Drums
The origin of Tama Drums goes back to 1965 when the company at that time called Star Drums, a Japanese company, began to manufacture drums. And though guitars and amps had previously been the focus of production, drums became the product line that prospered. Two early drum lines, the Imperial Star and Royal Star, were introduced that sounded good and could compete price-wise with the popular brands in America, Slingerland, Rogers, and Ludwig.
Over the years since that time Tama Drums have continued to move forward with new innovations in technology. Tama Drums are well-designed and carefully manufactured for high quality, great looks and sound, and a construction that is durable and long-lasting.
Tama Silverstar Review
One of the most popular and impressive additions to their drum line is the Tama Silverstar series drum kits. This series, designed with a 100% birch shell construction, delivers a range of great-sounding drum sets that are in a moderate price range of $700 to $900, slightly above what would qualify as drum sets for cheap, but still quite affordable in comparison with the expensive brands.
Features
Birch shells: The Silverstar Series features 100% birch shells which give a strong resonance and a full tone that closely competes with the sound of much higher priced drums. In fact the same construction processes are used in the construction of Tama’s higher priced lines. The Silverstar series has great versatility for numerous style and sound applications.
Swiveling Eye Bolts: The eye bolts of the tom brackets are designed to swivel out of the way for ease in adjusting the toms. The eye bolts are never in the way.
Star-Mount System: Suspended drums are set with a minimal amount of contact through the use of the new Star-Mount System of mounting. The drums are suspended by only four points without touching the shell. Muting in minimized and the resonance and tone of the drum is greatly enhanced.
Low-Mass Lug: A newly designed lug that makes less contact with the shell surface is used to allow an increase of drum vibration, thus producing greater volume, tone, and resonance.
Slidable Tom Holder: The newly designed tom holder allows for forward and backward positioning of the toms by way of a locking tension bolt with the use of a drum key.
Finishes
The Silverstar Series is available in five variations lacquer finish as well as five different colors of wrap finishes.
